Portable Military Memorabilia Display.
The volunteer Curator of the Gold Coast War Museum, Mr. Bob Meehan OAM (a
Vietnam War Veteran)has extended his activities in order to provide military
memorabilia displays, free of charge, to organisations such as Schools,
Defence Establishments, Services Clubs and Ex-Service Organisations.
The original concept was displays of memorabilia depicting each era and
deployment of the ADF during the last century (The ANZAC Centenary) but this
has been expanded to encompass all occasions involving Australians from the
time of the first settlement at Sydney Cove in the 18th century to our
peace-keeping roles under the umbrella of the United Nations Organisation.
In a project hosted by the Tweed Heads & Coolangatta RSL Sub-Branch (THC
RSL) and supported by DVA and Bunnings Hardware, Tweed Heads South,, skilled
members of the THC RSL have built thirty display cabinets measuring 1200mm x
1200mm x 285mm which Bob Meehan has loaded with military memorabilia.(Please
refer to the attachments).
The first booking of appropriate display cabinets is for the 8/9 RAR
Military Tattoo at Enoggera on 31 October, 2014.
